Sometimes you describe your dream in a whisper. Speaking your dream out loud, loud enough so others can hear, can leave your feelings exposed. This may expose your fear of hearing others’ opinions, since speaking your dream out loud opens you up to LOTS of opinions. Or maybe that’s not your fear. Maybe you fear failure. Maybe you don’t want to give yourself false hope or maybe you even fear success. Either way, you open the floodgates to many emotions when you say in a loud voice “My dream is to ___________.” When you own your dream.

I remember when I launched my book. The scariest part wasn’t writing the book but sharing it with others. To listen to feedback, the good and bad. To talk about the book in interviews. To talk about my dream of becoming a bestselling author. To share my heart.

You see, once I shared my book it was no longer mine but the readers. I faced many fears – failure, success, criticism, and uncertainty. But God reminded me that my dream was a gift from Him.

“‘For I Know the Plans I Have for You’ Declares the Lord, ‘Plans to Prosper You and Not to Harm You, Plans to Give You Hope and a Future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

I learned that the message of the book was not insignificant and not something that I should keep to myself. Rather it was something to be shared.

While God knows the entire path, you only see the steps He allows you to see. And as you articulate your dream, He helps you to better understand it yourself to see why you are taking each step. This is the first step to completely owning your dream.

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” – Proverbs 16:9

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you” – Psalms 32:8

Let me encourage you today to own your dream. To not speak your dream with a whisper, but to say it with boldness. The beauty is that you don’t have to have it all figured out. It’s not all up to you.

Humble yourself and take a step back. What is the real engine behind your dream?  Or rather who? The one who knows your heart. The one who knows you and still loves you more than you can imagine.  God wants you to receive and own the dreams He has given you. He will shine a light for you.

The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. – Proverbs 4:18
